The overall take away, I like the little project.

I think the instructions could be *slightly* improved. The wheels are only shown for installation on one side and it labels/shows the wheels as L and R instead of front and back which is what I’d consider the proper orientation. Ultimately, I installed the wheels based on the treads and images that show the unit complete. I’m not sure if it’s consistent, but it is weird as L and R either way.

The instructions show each three wire connection with grey/white/black wires. The unit ships with a set of colored wires, more than enough but with the colored connections on the robot being yellow, red and brown, it would be easier to have enough three wire sets to be able to complete the installation always using the same three color sets.

I think the robot also is running at a default lower speed. I’m using it for something else and I guess I have to learn the coding in order to be able to use it at a higher speed. Hopefully, if it does run a higher speed, it can move on my carpet and make it over floor thresholds.

Main reason for the four stars, and I seriously considered less: one of the motor brackets shipped with the wires incorrectly installed from the factory. Not the wire connections the end user makes, the part was made incorrectly- or at least was wired differently than the other three. I noticed this during the installation, many people might not? Obviously, the robot would not function correctly when complete. So I swapped out the connections for that motor bracket so my wiring was incorrect to compensate/correct the factory wiring mistake.

Fun little project, though. I’d buy it again.

We got the mbot blue as a gift a few months ago for my youngest, and it was just right for him, when we saw this one we just knew it would be a perfect gift for my oldest. It came just in time for his birthday and we spent literally all day today and parts of yesterday figuring it out. Best part is that once you do the tutorials you can start to do your own thing and we ended up combining the mbot blue to make an even more mega robot. Anyway, it was a perfect gift for my 13 year old.

We had tons of fun making the Mbot mega. My girls are learning basic concepts of electronics, mechanics, programming, and more. We want to share our Mbot mega review videos with kids and people interested in Makeblock robotic kits.

This robot kit is amazing. I got it as a gift for my son to play with and he loves it!! It is great, it keeps him active and busy and has a lot of different things so he will never get bored!!

I was impressed with how well this was packaged and presented. I’m always worrisome about ordering things on Amazon that I haven’t seen in person. My husband and kids started building it yesterday. It’s definitely not a short project, but it has been fun for him and our 9 11 year old daughters. They haven’t run into any problems yet.
